Green to wear Carolina Blue

After watching Danny Green shine at the ABCD camp, North Carolina assistant coach Steve Robinson called Tar Heel head coach Roy Williams and said he may have found their man for the wing. On Friday night, Green decided to make that a reality. The 6-foot-5, 180-pound shooting guard from St. Mary’s High School in Manhasset, N.Y., picked UNC.
Green, the No. 89 ranked player in the nation by Rivals.com, is the fourth player to commit to the storied ACC program when he announced he’d attend North Carolina at a press conference at his school.

“Their history is amazing and they have been my favorite team since I was a kid,” Green told Andrew Skwara of CarolinaBlue.com.
Robinson was sold after Green was named as one of the MVPs of the ABCD camp. The senior earned that title with fantastic play at nearly every facet of the game. Shortly after the camp, Williams got involved and made Green a priority. The head coach made an in-home visit earlier in the week and that proved to seal the deal.
Green is a versatile player that has a knack for rallying a team together for a win. Green is also fundamentally sound and should be able to adapt to the college game quickly.
“Coach Williams just really sold me on North Carolina,” Green said. “I think I have a good opportunity to play there next season.”
Green joins guards Bobby Frasor and Marcus Ginyard as well as super forward Tyler Hansbrough, forming a formidable class as it stands today. The Tar Heels are still in the mix for two blue-chippers in Richard Hendrix and Martell Webster.
Green also considered Connecticut, Pittsburgh and St. John’s.
