Green looking to build own legacy

RANKINGS: 2015 - 2016 - 2017
Long Island (N.Y.) Lutheran guard Devonte Green comes from an athletic family. His brother, Danny Green, was a standout player on North Carolina's 2009 national championship team and now plays for the San Antonio Spurs, where he's also played an important role on a championship team.

Devonte Green is a talented young player, too, and he's hoping to build his own legacy. The Tar Heels are recruiting the three-star guard, and he plans to visit there next month, but he's not sure North Carolina is the right place for him.
"I'm somewhat interested in North Carolina, but I want to do my own thing," Green said.
Along with the Tar Heels, Green hears from Oklahoma, Boston College and Maryland most regularly, although none of them have offered yet. He claims two offers at the moment: Cincinnati and Arizona.
The Terrapins have caught Green's attention with the way they use their guards.
"I like Maryland a lot. There are a guard-oriented school and I like where they are located."
Oklahoma assistant coach Lew Hill has played a big role in getting the Sooners into the mix for Green.
"I like the coach recruiting me, Coach Hill. He's pretty cool."
Boston College is the newest school to move on Green.
"Boston College just recently started recruiting me. I don't know a ton about them, but it is close. I'm supposed to be visiting there next month too."
Arizona's success over the years isn't lost on Green.
"They have a lot of people that have made it out of there. They always make the tournament every year and are always really good."
Two schools stand out most to Green right now.
"I probably like Maryland and Oklahoma the most right now."
Look for Green to play out his last season playing for Team Scan in the Nike EYBL before he decides on where he'll play college basketball.
"Hopefully I'll commit after AAU next summer. I'll be looking at the style play with the guards. Location will be important and so will my relationship with the coach."
