Green headed to Florida Atlantic

Roderick Green is going back to the place where it all started. Upon graduating from Boyd Anderson High School in Lauderdale Lakes, Fla., the 6-foot-7, 240-pound power forward took his game to Miami-Dade, but eventually left the program. At that time, Green decided to take a step back and took a job with Comcast Cable. However, after getting married in October, the Florida native ultimately decided to head to Redlands Community College. After red shirting last year, Green is looking forward to taking the court this year and, more importantly, can't wait to get back home.
"Man, I am headed to Florida Atlantic. I actually made the decision on Monday," said Green. "I just returned home from an official visit and I had a great time. I have been in Florida my entire life, so I am definitely looking forward to going back home.

"I spent a lot of time with Coach Rex Walters and his assistants during my official visit," he added. "All I can really say is the visit to Florida Atlantic was awesome. It's the only official visit that I needed to take. I knew that I was going to Florida Atlantic during my visit."
During his very brief tenure, Walters and his staff have done an outstanding job evaluating and monitoring players from various classes. Beginning with the 2005 class, the Owls have added 13 players to their roster.
Coach Walters and his staff have high expectations for the near future, which is exactly why Green gave the nod to the Owls. It's quite clear that his decision was extremely easy.
"You know, Coach Walters believes that we can beat anybody we play," he said. "He and his staff are brining in some great players, so I am definitely looking forward to being a member of the team. I like the idea of playing against Kansas and some other top programs.
"The coaching staff at Florida Atlantic is very excited about the future," he added. "They believe in the program and they believe in the players. I am going back home to play for Florida Atlantic, and I am so excited about that."
