One of the top floor generals in the class of 2017, four-star point guard Quade Green is working his way back from a minor bump in the road.
A six-footer from Philadelphia (Pa.) Neumann-Goretti who currently ranks No. 50 nationally, Green suffered a high ankle sprain over Memorial Day weekend while playing in the Under Armour Association with his grassroots team We-R-1.
While the injury caused some missed time during the month of June, Green had already been able to show what he can do and that's be a playmaking point guard who can score, distribute and run a team.
"That's what I do, I initiate the offense," said Green. "I talk on defense and do everything to be a true point guard."
Playing for We-R-1, Green shares backcourt duties with five-star point guard Trevon Duval who is also in the class of 2017.
"It's been exciting," said Green. "Me and Trevon have been doing a lot of things together. Observing each other and picking each others game apart.
"We both can score and get our big men involved. As long as we both get our touches and get the big men involved things are great."
So far, Green has racked up offers from the likes of Arizona State, Georgetown, Michigan State, Maryland, Villanova, Temple, Providence and Missouri among others. He saw both Maryland and Georgetown in June but said that he isn't in any rush to make a decision.
"It probabaly won't be until my senior year," said Green. "Me and my mom will have to sit down and discuss it."
For now, Green is focusing on the month of July and the three live periods where he can play in front of college coaches. He's been in the gym rehabbing his ankle and has a concrete plan for what's going to happen when the live periods start.
"I'm taking the boot off in July," said Green. "The boot is coming off and I'm playing."
