Green Claims Several Offers

2005 prospect Gerald Green out of Houston has led his Gulf Shores Academy to a 26-2 record while winning tournaments in the Bahamas, New Mexico, and Dallas. The 6-foot-7, 185-pound shooting guard is presently averaging 25 points and 12 rebounds a game.
“I am playing pretty good,” Green said. “I could play better. In the summer I was scoring a lot. Now I am trying to make my all around game better- my rebounding, passing, and defense.”

Green, the No. 53 player in the Rivals75 for the class of 2005, claims to have offers from eight different high major schools. He listed Miami, Oklahoma, Louisville, Oklahoma State, Arizona, Arizona State, Texas, and Kansas as teams that have offered him.
“Everyone on that list has offered me and wants me to commit,” he said. “They have all been calling my coach and have watched me play this fall.”
Out of this list Green has four favorites in Oklahoma, Miami, Texas, and Oklahoma State.
“I like Oklahoma because they gave me more attention than any other school,” he said. “My Grandmother lives down there and my brother-in-law is an alumnus.”
Miami is nice because it is in a big city, and it gets lots of publicity because of the football program.”
“I don’t know about Texas. I like Texas, but I don’t know how much run I would get there. Their lineup is really stacked.”
“And the good thing about Oklahoma State is that I would be close to my Grandmother.”
Green, whose strength is shooting the ball, credits his dad for helping him develop the skill, so he can play on the perimeter.
“I mainly play shooting guard, but I can play one through four,” he said. “Shooting guard is what I want to play in college, and shooting is my strength. I can shoot from really far. My Dad worked with me early on shooting. He knew I would be tall, and he didn’t want me to be a big guy that cannot shoot.”
Green ended by saying he felt good about his list of schools and would probably make a decision before the start of the AAU season.
