Gratz Surges Past FLC

PHILADELPHIA, Penn. -- Simon Gratz H.S. put the defensive clamps on Franklin Learning Center, allowing just 12 second half points in a 59-42 victory over the Bobcats on Saturday night at the Scholastic Play by Play Classic.
Omar Johnson, a spunky, offensive minded 5-5 senior point guard, paced Gratz with 21 points. He and athletic 6-4 junior swingman Mark Tyndale (15 points) were electric as Gratz pulled away from FLC in the fourth quarter.

After a lackluster first half, the Bulldogs trailed 30-21 to the Bobcats. Tyndale scored a bucket to close the third quarter that gave Gratz a 37-35 lead, and the Bulldogs simply ran away with it in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Bobcats 22-7 over the final eight minutes.
Michael Green, a 6-1 unsigned senior point guard from FLC, led the Bobcats with 14 points. He scored 12 of his 14 in the first half, helping stake FLC to its nine point lead at the half.
