Grant Interesting Prospect For 2004

Gavin Grant, a slashing 6'7'' 190 pound small forward/swingman from St. Raymond's High School in the Bronx, is one of the more intriguing prospects coming out of New York City in the class of 2004.
Grant is a wiry slasher who handles extremely well for his size. He spends most of his time on the offensive end on the perimeter, and is able to shed defenders and get to the rim with a crossover that he uses often. Gavin has the quickness of a guard wrapped up in a bigger package. He has to work harder at the defensive end of the floor.

Grant is a capable low post defender and shot blocker, although he will need to get stronger. He has good lateral quickness but will need to improve his perimeter defense for the next level.
Grant competed this summer with The New York Ravens. He would not say who has expressed interest at this point, but sources tell us that he is received interest from a wide variety of high major schools. Grant is regarded by many as a top 50 national prospect in the class of 2004. The consistency is not there yet, but the ceiling is very high for this native of The Bronx who is averaging eight points, seven rebounds, and four blocks for coach Oliver Antigua on a squad with a number of Division I prospects.
Grant told Rivalshoops.com that he carries an 80 average in the classroom.
