Grant excited about Big East

Four-star prospect Jerian Grant saw what he needed to see on his first official visit. The 6-foot-4, 180-pound combo guard from Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha High School is Big East bound.
DePaul, Providence and Virginia were in the running for Grant, but none of the three will get official visits after Grant committed to Notre Dame after an impressive Labor Day weekend visit.

"Definitely a big thing is that Notre Dame plays in the Big East," said Grant. "I will have an opportunity to play against the best competition. Also, the coaching staff is great, and I have a good relationship with them. Then when I played with the team, they were great guys and down to earth and made me feel comfortable."
Along with the off the court aspects that impressed Grant with Notre Dame, he also is excited about Notre Dame's style of play.
"I really liked the way their guys play," he said. "They coaches let you play and spread the court, so you can drive and make basketball plays. That is what they want me to do. I'll play the one and the two, and they want me to make plays on the ball and off the ball."
Grant, who is the No. 92 ranked prospect in the Rivals150, had a strong July evaluation period playing with Team Takeover.
He joins four-star point guard Eric Atkins and three-star shooting specialist Alex Dragicevich in the Notre Dame 2010 recruiting class.
