Goodson finds his fit

Three-star point guard Demetri Goodson saw his recruitment take off in July after strong play for Houston Select. On Tuesday the 5-foot-11, 180-pound point guard from Klein (Texas) Collins High School chose to head to the northwest to play his college basketball.
"I went up to Gonzaga and was really impressed at what a great place it was for basketball," said Goodson. "There isn't a football team, so it is all basketball. The fans are great and so are the players. When I was playing pick up ball with them, I could really see how I could fit in well."

The success of point guards in the Gonzaga program was also a big selling point for Goodson.
"John Stockton was one of the great ones, and there have been a whole group of point guards who have played in The League," he said. "It is a great point guard program. They push you to play at the highest level and expect you to make it to the next level."
With a host of schools after him, Goodson ultimately chose Gonzaga over Oklahoma, Texas Tech and Illinois State.
Goodson, the No. 135 ranked prospect in the Rivals150, joins four-star guard Grant Gibbs and three-star post player Andy Poling as Gonzaga commitments in the class of 2008.
