Goods Thinking Prep School

Quinton Goods, a 6-foot-8 forward from Greensboro (NC) Smith, is in a bit of a quandary. With solid athleticism and obvious potential, he’s been on the short list for several mid major schools. But Goods isn’t sure he wants to play at the collegiate level just yet.
Goods is thinking about taking a prep year at Hargrave Military Academy in order to boost his stock in order to improve his school selection.

“I would like another year to mature in my game,” Goods said. “If I sit out a year at a prep school I can spend more time on my game like going to the hole, working on my defense, staying in the weight room and doing a better job facing up to the basket.”
Goods said he’s had a lot of interest from Appalachian State and has taken an unofficial visit Elon but he believes a fifth year would also help him prepare for life as a collegiate basketball player.
“I just don’t think I’m ready at that level yet,” Goods said. “Sometimes players get to school and they don’t play because they aren’t ready. I don’t want to be like that. That’s why I’m thinking about prep school.”
He plays the power forward position at Smith HS but he could become a solid small forward at the next level because of his bouncy skills and fearless mentality when attacking the basket.
Goods will need to improve his ball handling and outside touch. But if he decides to turn down the idea of college in 04-05, a year at a prep school would allow him to improve in those noted areas. The extra year would certainly boost his chances of making the Rivals150 as well as gaining larger schools interest.
