Gonzaga tops West Virginia in thriller
No. 4 seed West Virginia (28-9) led late but couldn't hold on, falling to Gonzaga 61-58 in the Sweet 16 in San Jose Thursday night.
The Mountaineers had a chance to tie the game but missed two opportunities and didn't get a final shot off against the Bulldogs' defense. Gonzaga held the Mountaineers to 27 percent from the field, but West Virginia out-rebounded the Bulldogs 41-34, including 20 offensive boards.
