Gonzaga nabs 2009 forward

Gonzaga snagged one of the most intriguing 2007 prospects Austin Daye out of California. Now the Zags have dipped into the 2009 class and secured a commitment from Brock Osweiler of Flathead High School in Kalispell, Mont.
Osweiler, a 6-foot-7, 214-pound combo forward, committed to Gonzaga on Tuesday before coming to the Nike Hoop Jamboree in St. Louis.

Even though he committed prior to his sophomore year and he lives in a remote region, Osweiler was already hearing from Michigan State, Illinois, Arizona, Washington State and Wisconsin-Green Bay.
"Gonzaga is three hours from my home," said Osweiler. "The facilities are brand new and everything is first class there. It is a good fit for me, and it's like one big family there."
Although Gonzaga plays in a mid-major conference, Osweiler considers himself committed to one of the top programs in the west.
"Gonzaga is one of the top three programs on the west coast, and the number one program in the northwest," he said. "They have had great success developing their forwards into NBA players. I know I will get better playing both forward positions there."
Rivals.com will have analysis of Osweiler's play and the play of many other young prospects at the Nike Hoop Jamboree after the conclusion of the camp on Saturday.
