Golson Down To Three

Reggie Golson, a 6-7, 190 pound small forward from Hutchinson C.C. in Hutchinson, Kan., has three finalists vying for his services this spring.
JUCO Junction/Rivalshoops.com caught up with Hutch Asst. Coach Eric Duft on Friday, and he told us that Golson has already visited Southeast Missouri State with trips planned for UMKC and UNC-Wilmington.

Golson's older brother Marcus played at Missouri-Kansas City this year, but the Kangaroos are just one of three finalists at this stage. His teammate at Hutch, Dainmon Gonner, recently cast his lot with Southeast Missouri.
Previously, Coach Duft said that Boise State, Minnesota and Central Florida were among the other programs recruiting Golson, but those programs didn't make the final cut.
Minnesota had been in twice this winter to take a look at Golson, who is similar in some respects to current Golden Gopher senior Travarus Bennett. Bennett also came to the Golden Gophers from the junior college ranks.
Golson is a very effective jump shooter from midrange, and displayed the ability to go off the dribble throughout the weekend. He can handle the ball adequately, recovers well on his leap but is not a particularly strong finisher (lack of strength) or three point shooter. Golson is mobile and athletic and can put the ball on the floor. While he does not have the frame to play inside, he has the height and athleticism to be a factor on both ends of the glass.
A native of Kansas City, Kan., Golson averaged 8.3 points and 5.9 rebounds per game as a freshman last year at Hutch. This past season, Golson upped those figures to 10.5 points and 6.2 rebounds per game on a deeper and more balanced club that made it to the Region VI semis in Salina, Kan., last month.
