Glass stands out

The EliteHoopsShowcase hosted its second annual Memorial Day Classic, crowning four champions. Standing out amongst all prospects, though, was Tevin Glass.

In the 17u division the underdog Arkansas Stars beat Worldwide. The scrappy, undersized Stars jumped out to an early 12 point lead and held serve from there. 2013 6-foot-3 F Devan James (Catholic H.S.) led the Stars with 17 points, 2012 Hall H.S. guards 6-foot-1 Quan Jones and 6-foot-3 Jobe Dillard each added 14 points. Worldwide Tevin Glass finished with a game high 31. In the 17u Silver Division the Atlanta Select beat Birmingham Ice Xpress.

The Birmingham Ice 15u crew won the 16u division. Justin Coleman and Jarvis Calhoun did the damage for the youngsters winning a close four point contest over the Columbus Knicks.

Trayvon Reed dominated the 15u division, leading the Celtics to the championship over the Alabama Force. Reed is starting to look like the prospect everyone has projected he will be.

The undermanned Atlanta Celtics won the 14u division over the Tennessee Edge.

Here are some of the top performers on the weekend:

2012 Standout

6-foot-8 WF Tevin Glass (Worldwide) - Glass projects out as a wing and you can tell he's working hard to make that conversion. He shot the ball well from the arc, handled the ball better in traffic and showed his passing ability from the perimeter and the block. Glass is blessed with length and a 37 inch vertical, that when added to his growing skill set, makes him a top 50 prospect. Auburn, Georgia, Florida State, Ole Miss, Missouri, Clemson, Tennessee and NC State showing heavy interest.

6-foot-8 PF Charles Mitchell (Worldwide.) - Mitchell did his usual banging inside but also showed a consistent jump hook that was hard to defend. He ran the floor well and finished in traffic. His conditioning is showing improvement. Offers include Clemson, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Tennessee, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Xavier.

5-foot-8 PG Stefan Moody (Team Breakdown) - This athletic, explosive attacking point guard should surely find heavy interest in July. This is Moody's first year on the circuit and a relative unknown. He shoots it well from deep and when closely guarded, uses his strength and athleticism to blow by his defender for finishes at the rim.Tough defender.

6-foot-3 SG Chris Bolden (Worldwide) - Bolden is making himself a dangerous player. Always a player known for his shooting ability, he is now attacking the basket and not settling for the jumper. On quite a few occasions he showed shot fake and drove to the basket for slam dunk finishes. Improving as a defender. Offers from Boston College, Virginia Tech, South Carolina, Marquette, Nebraska, Ole Mis and Miami.

6-foot-3 PG DeOndre Haynes (Birmingham Storm) - Explosive athlete. Haynes used that athleticism to blow by his defender for scores or to create for his teammates. He has a good stroke but seems to be a reluctant shooter. A tough competitor, Haynes returned to play a game after cutting his forearm and getting stitches in a previous game. Competes hard.

6-foot-7 WF JaCorey Williams (Birmingham Storm) - Playing with more urgency. The lefty shot the ball well and used to his length and craftiness to finish around the basket. Holding an offer from East Carolina with interest from Auburn, Alabama, Georgia, Texas, VCU and others.

6-foot-10 C Mike Hall (Worldwide) - Hall 's best attributes are on the defensive end where he blocks or alters shots. Needs the weight room to finish better with contact and for those tough rebounds. Good shooter to 17 feet. Has high ceiling. Offers from Murray State, New Mexico State, California, George mason, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech and Georgia Southern.

5-foot-10 CB Shermonne Jpnes (Pensacola Elite) - The lefty drew a lot of defensive attention with his ability to dial in from deep. Good at attacking the basket and kicking or pulling up for the mid-range.

6-foot-1 PG Quan Jones(Arkansas Stars) - Catalyst to Stars championship run. Shot the ball well all weekend. Defended and rebounded his position well. Has the look of D1 point guard.

6-foot-3 WG Jobe Dillard (Arkansas Stars) - Relentless defender. Always on attack on the offensive end, strong build allows him to finish with contact.

6-foot-0 PG Brandon Brantly (GTH Elite) - Added strength allows him to Get into the lane for the dish or pull-up. Knows how to run a team.

6-foot-3 G Brandon Channer (Team Breakdown) - Strong body combo guard that likes to push tempo and attack the rim. Defends well.

2013 Standouts

6-foot-5 SG Hudson Price (Atlanta Celtics) - As the son of former NBA All-Star Mark Price, Hudson gets his stroke honestly. He's a big reason the 16u Celtics beat Worldwide and Breakdown in Pool Play. Aside from his stroke, Price has a good IQ and is not opposed to attacking the basket or hitting the block for quick post-ups. Heavy interest is soon to follow when he hits the circuit in July.

6-foot-6 WF Seab Webster (Southeast Elite) - Playing like a point forward this weekend, Webster was tough to defend. Too strong for smaller defenders and too quick for the bigger ones, Webster exposes those advantages. Has interest from Alabama, Auburn, Ole Miss and Georgia.

5-foot-11 CB Rico Overall (Fastbreak) - High IQ, good shooting combo guard. Overall has good range on his jumper and seems to always make the right play. Does a good job of utilizing shot fakes to open driving lanes.

6-foot-8 PF Clarence Williams (Fastbreak) - Bouncy, high motor forward with natural shot blocking ability. Its not enough to block a shot as the kids say BEAT is more appropriate when it comes to Williams. As with most young bigs, the top 100 prospect needs improvement on the offensive end. He does have a solid 15 jumper in his bag.

6-foot-9 LaMarcus White (Columbus Knicks.) - Another long big that needs the weight room but has good upside. One of the better passing bigs at the tournament with the ability to alter and block shots. Runs the floor well.

6-foot-4 CB Deshon Burgesss (GT Stars.) - Did a good job of handling the ball against smaller defenders. Attacks the basket and shoots it well. Sleeper.

6-foot-2 CB Earl Bryant(GT Stars) Just when you think the cupboard may be bare at Miller Grove here comes another one. Very good shooter.

2014 Standouts

6-foot-10 C Trayvon Reed (Celtics-Provitt) - The top prospect at the event. Reed is starting to look like the potential 5-Star prospect we all expect him to be. Finishing above the rim, blocking shot, dominating the block on both ends. Had a 31 point outburst in bracket play.

5-foot-9 PG Justin Coleman (Birmingham Ice Xpress) - Scoring point guard who can also get his teammates involved. Has very good speed and quickness that he uses to hound ball-handlers on the defensive end and to blow by defenders on the offensive end.

6-foot-0 CB Issiah Williams (Vanguard Elite) - One of the better shooters and the event. Williams has improved in using his shooting ability to get him drives to the basket. Has shown vast improvement since the end of the high school season. Improving defensively.

5-foot-11 PG Paul Jackson (GT Stars) - Jackson opened up some eyes with 36 point showing in a bracket play loss. He attacked the lane, he shot it from deep and still found opportunities to get his teammates open looks. One of the events big surprises.

6-foot- 6 WF Riley Norris (Southeast Elite) - One of the top wings in Alabama, Norris shot the ball well. Although he has a slight frame, he's not afraid to head to block for scoring opportunities.

6-foot-2 G Richard Lee (Team Breakdown.) - Playing 17u with Team Breakdown, Lee is a good looking prospect. He is a solid ball-handler, has a good looking stroke and defended well.

5-foot-11 PG Tim Shaw (Memphis Thunder) - Pure point guard who plays with great pace. Lock down defender, potential high level prospect.

6-foot-0 SG Jarvis Calhoun (Birmingham Ice Xpress) - Pure shooting lefty who is now finding opportunities to attack the rim. Shot it well all weekend.
