By the time four-star shooting guard Admon Gilder announced his college decision to attend Texas A&M Thursday, the rumor mill had kicked into overdrive.

Leading up to decision day, the 6-foot-3 shooting guard from Dallas (Texas) Madison who ranks No. 65 in the class was generally thought to be a lean to Oklahoma State. But early Thursday, word started to circulate that Gilder may pick SMU or even A&M instead.
The A&M talk didn't really hit until the decision day and once it did it hit hard, culminating in the addition of Gilder who said that coach Kennedy taking sole ownership of his recruitment was big
"The other schools have one recruiter that handles most of your recruitment and you usually get an assistant coach," Gilder told Rivals.com. "But (Kennedy) was the one head coach calling and recruiting me the most heavily and doing all the recruiting for A&M."
Gilder is a major pickup for Billy Kennedy and his staff. During his career at Madison, he has been a two time state champion and he has proven to be a very steady and consistent player on both ends of the floor.
Gilder has a high basketball IQ, is a strong kid and has a nice blend to his game between jump shooting and using the dribble to free up space. He is a very good defender and a generally good teammate who should be both mentally and physically ready to contribute soon after he arrives on campus.
"I'll be coming in as a combo guard," said Gilder. "I'll be able to score the ball, shoot and get my teammates involved. Also just being a winner. I'll come in having won a couple of championships and hoepeuflly we can win a national championship.
There will be shooting guards in the Big 12/AAC/SEC that have a little more size or athleticism than Gilder, but his overall skill level will allow him to compete at a very high level."
By adding Gilder, the Aggies have taken an already strong recruiting class to an even higher level. He joins No. 27 Tyler Davis and No. 32 D.J. Hogg in one of nation's best early class of 2015 recruiting classes.
