Harvard has struck again. The Ivy League school locked up another quality recruit. After great success in the 2008 class, Tommy Amaker and staff are off to a strong start in 2009 after North Carolina wing Dee Giger gave the program a verbal commitment on Thursday.

After shining at the Peach State Summer Showcase, Giger decided it was time to end his recruitment.
"I woke up this morning and my mind was telling me that it was time to commit to Harvad," the 6-foot-6 shooting guard from the Christ School in Arden, N.C. said. "When I woke up, all I was thinking was Harvard so I decided that I needed to go ahead and get it over with and put it behind me...I don't have to bug about it anymore.
"I love the coaches and I talk to them on a regular basis. I like the area because I like big cities. The school itself speaks millions of words. The education itself is amazing. As far as I'm concerned, I feel like I can come in there and do some big things early. It felt comfortable and they made it a comfortable situation for me when I went up there."
Harvard locked up a great five-man class in 2008, highlighted by three-star prospects Max Kenyi and Andrew Van Nest.
"We are only going to be as good as we play," Giger, a three-star prospect, said. "Hopefully we can go on and do some big things. I have talked to a few of the 2008 players and got to know them pretty well…Lord knows where we can end up. Maybe we can win the Ivy League. Maybe we can get to the NCAA tournament. All I know is that I'm coming in there to play my hardest."
Giger is the second player from the Christ School to commit in the last two days. Teammate Lakeem Jackson pledged to South Carolina on Wednesday. Giger also considered William & Mary and Stanford.
