Gibson Looking at Other Schools

Zach Gibson, a 6-foot-8, 190-pound combo forward from Grand Blanc (Mich.) High School has always had his eyes set on Michigan State. Now a couple other schools are working on the young 2005 prospect and have him considering a visit this Fall.
“Rutgers is talking to me now, and I will probably visit there soon,” said Gibson. “They are just telling me that they like my game and want me to take an official visit.

“South Florida has been calling also. I am thinking about visiting there, too.”
Although Michigan State has not offered and is wanting to track Gibson’s development during the high school season, the Spartans are still the school to beat.
“They are still interested but want to see me play this year,” said Gibson. “I am thinking I will sign late, but I don’t really know. I would have to feel that one of these other schools is as good an option for me as Michigan State.”
Gibson did indicate that he is willing to go to travel away from home to attend school.
“Distance doesn’t really matter,” he said. “I am just looking for a good fit where I can play at a high level like in the Big East or Big Ten.”
Gibson, who averaged 14 points and 10 rebounds per game, is young enough to be in the class of 2006 and has a very good upside. He moves well, has good hands, can shoot, and has a solid feel for the game. He played very well at times this summer for the Michigan Mustangs 16-under team, but he does need to further develop physically. Redshirting at Michigan State is an option.
