Gibbs Will Change Schools

Corey Gibbs, an outstanding 6-7, 235 pound power forward who led Atlanta's Pace Academy to a 26-6 season, will be attending another school next year.
Pace's head coach Tim Johnston said that Gibbs will enroll at Redan High School in Stone Mountain, GA. "His mother said that the reason for the change was transportation, since Redan is much closer to their home in Lithonia, GA," said Johnston. "And he's looking to improve his grade point average."

Gibbs had an outstanding junior year as he was named to the Class AA All-State First Team while averaging 22 points, 15 rebounds and 5.5 blocks per game. He also was the Region Player of the Year.
"Corey has had three fantastic years at Pace," added Johnston. "He's a great young man and we're hoping he continues to excel at Redan."
Gibbs, who presently meets the NCAA academic requirements, has a top list of five schools. "Alabama, Georgia and Cincinnati have already offered scholarships," said Johnston. "And the other two, North Carolina State and Georgetown, have indicated they will do the same."
Johnston expects that Gibbs will be making a decision after he makes his official visits to these schools. "He's already had unofficial visits with many schools," Johnston added.
Gibbs plays with the Team Georgia AAU program and will be attending the Nike All-American camp this July in Indianapolis.
"Corey is a tremendous person," Johnston remarked. "Whichever program gets Corey will be getting a great kid as well as a really talented player."
