Gibbs heads to ACC

The Maryland Terrapins picked up a big commitment in the 2011 class on Monday night. The Terps looked north to New York City and found a player with good bloodlines and a lot of game when they picked up a commitment from Sterling Gibbs.
His older brother Ashton is tearing up the Big East as a member of the Pitt Panthers, but younger brother Sterling is deciding to blaze his own trail. The 6-foot-1 combo guard out of Seton Hall Prep in West Orange (NJ) picked the Maryland Terrapins.

"Yes I picked Maryland," said Gibbs himself.
Currently Gibbs is the No 135 rates prospect by Rivals.com and had offers from Florida, Indiana, Pittsburgh, and Seton Hall to go along with Maryland, but at the end of the day it was the Terrapins coaching staff that appealed to him the most.
"I just love the whole situation," said Gibbs. "Coach Williams is a great coach who is always able to get the most out of his players."
Gibbs then added, "Also it is a family environment."
At this point Gibbs is mostly known for his ability to score from the guard position, but also he is developing as a point guard. Gibbs is expected to run the point when he gets to College Park.
With his commitment Gibbs becomes the first member of Maryland's 2011 class.
