German Guard Scores Big Again

2004 combo guard Edwin Ofori-Attah finished Statesville Christian (NC) High School’s regular season with a 68 point performance. The 6-foot-4, 205-pound shooting guard has his eyes set on one SEC school while some other schools are still in the mix.
“Coach Odom was at our practice Wednesday night,” said Statesville Christian head coach John Jordan. “He really likes Edwin. South Carolina has great interest in him. The situation is that they have one to give and they need a big. They have appealed to the NCAA, however, to get an extra scholarship they believe they should have. Coach Odom basically said that if it goes through, Edwin would be their man.”

Coach Jordan also mentioned Creighton, Oklahoma, and Minnesota as other schools that are still tracking Ofori-Attah.
Ofori-Attah is also still waiting to find out if he will play in the World Hoops Summit at this year’s NCAA Final Four in San Antonio. He has been nominated by his native Germany to participate in the event.
On the season Ofori-Attah is averaging 31 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists per game. In last nights game he made 13 out of 20 three point shots. Earlier in the season he set the North Carolina single game scoring record with a 71 point outburst.
One school in particular stands out for Ofori-Attah according to Coach Jackson.
“When I told him that North Carolina might be coming to watch him play, he said, ‘it doesn’t matter coach. If North Carolina and South Carolina offered me, I would choose South Carolina.’ He really loves South Carolina and Coach Odom,” said Coach Jackson.
Statesville Christian now enters tournament play and should be competing in Raleigh, North Carolina next weekend.
