Georgia guard picks SEC school

Andre Malone, a 6-foot-4, 190-pound shooting guard from North Clayton (Ga.) High School, will go to bed with a smile on Monday night. The three-star guard is headed to the SEC.
Malone verbally committed to the Auburn Tigers on Monday night.

"I don't think this smile is going to come off for a while," Malone said, shortly after making the call to Jeff Lebo.
"I just like the style of play and the coaches were showing me a lot of love. I like coach Lebo and coach [John] Cooper a lot. We got along real good."
Malone is the second Georgian from the class of 2009 to commit to the Tigers. He joins Robert Chubb, a 6-foot-9 big man from McIntosh High School. Malone gives the Tigers a perimeter scorer with SEC-level athleticism.
"Coach Lebo wants me to shoot the ball and he said he can make me a better guard because he played my position when he was in college," Malone said. "I'm looking forward to him helping me with the little things like getting my shot off a little better and things like that."
Auburn's proximity to home made his decision even easier, he said.
"My mom likes it a lot because it is so close to home and I can be here in a quick second if I need to. She can come and see me play whenever she wants to. That means a lot," Malone said.
After averaging 22 points and eight rebounds this season, Malone said he heard from Auburn from start to finish this season.
"They were on me hard at the beginning of the season and they were calling me, just checking up on me," Malone said. "They stayed with me even when I had bad games. They showed me that they really cared…I can't wait to get my uniform."
