Georgia guard makes college choice

When it came to the recruiting process for Lithonia (Ga.) High guard Chris Colvin, he decided to stick with the school that it all started with.
The 6-foot-2, 185-pound senior signed a letter-of-intent with Southeastern Louisiana, the first school to seriously pursue him, earlier this week. He chose the Lions over Jacksonville University.

"They were my first choice all along," Colvin said. "They were the first school to start recruiting me and that meant a lot to me."
The Lions noticed Colvin on the AAU circuit this summer and quickly made a scholarship offer.
A versatile and athletic guard who can score from all spots on the floor, Colvin averaged 24 points and five rebounds a game last season. He shot 33 percent from three-point range.
Colvin, who also boasts a 3.4 GPA, took an official visit to the Hammond, La., school about a month ago. The trip completely sold him on the Lions.
"It was a real nice campus," he said. "The coaches say I will play both guard positions and guaranteed I would get some solid minutes my first season too."
The Lions are coming off their best season in school history, which included a 24-9 record and their first ever berth in the NCAA Tournament. The head coach of that team, Billy Kennedy, left to be an assistant at Miami, and was replaced by Valdosta State's Jim Yarbrough in June.
Colvin will now focus on his senior season and leading a team that is lacking height and proven frontcourt players.
"We are pretty small and I'm going to have to play the one, two, three and four, so it's gong to be tough," Colvin said.
