Landers Nolley moved back to Georgia this year to attend Langston Hughes High School after spending the last couple years going to school in Chicago. It hasn’t taken long him to have a profound impact on his new school as he now has them in Final Four in the 6A state tournament.

Nolley, a three-star prospect in the 2018 class, pumped in 25 points in an Elite 8 overtime win over top-seeded Gainesville on Tuesday night in front of assistant coaches from Georgia and Xavier. Nolley said Georgia, Georgia Tech, Texas, VCU and Florida Gulf Coast have been on him the hardest lately. Northwestern and Virginia are also in the mix as well.

IN HIS OWN WORDS

The Rivals150 wing shared his thoughts on some of the programs recruiting him.

Georgia: “I like watching J.J. Frazier. I look at their games a lot and I like watching them. They tell me how I could go up there and be a big guard for them and influence the game that way.”

Georgia Tech: “I haven’t watched them a lot, but I know they’ve done well. I like Coach [Josh] Pastner and how he coaches. He’s got a lot of energy.”

Northwestern: “They slowed down since I moved back to Georgia. They have had an amazing season this year.”

Texas: “They started recruiting me towards the end of the summer. I like Shaka Smart and how their program is out there.”

VCU: “I talk to Coach [Casey] Long up there. That’s a nice program right there. They talk to me about how I would fit in up there.”

Virginia: “It’s a nice program. I like how they develop players up there like (Georgia native) Malcolm Brogdon and some others. Coach [Tony] Bennett likes how I play and said I could fit into their system and be like Malcolm.”

WHAT'S NEXT?

Nolley said he’s just enjoying the recruiting process right now and is in no rush to make a commitment anywhere. He’ll be playing in the Final Four this weekend in the state tournament and the state championship on Thursday if they win. Once the high school season is over, he’ll spend the travel season playing with Nike South Beach in the Nike EYBL. He won’t be making a commitment at least until after travel season.

RIVALS REACTION

Nolley’s size at 6-foot-6 and skill level in the backcourt are going to make him a hot commodity going forward, especially in a class that isn’t terribly deep nationally. Both local schools will have a shot at keeping Nolley home at the next level, but Texas and VCU also have his full attention. If he plays as well this summer as he did on Tuesday night, his list of offers will grow and the shape of his recruitment could change drastically.
