Gates is off the board

It comes as no surprise, but Yancy Gates of Cincinnati's Withrow High School will stay at home as a college basketball player.
Choosing Cincinnati over Georgetown and Indiana, Gates, a 6-foot-8, 250-pound power forward, is excited about the future of his hometown school according to his father Tony Dees.

"He'll be going to Cincinnati," Dees told Rivals.com. "It is the Big East and he likes Coach Cronin and Coach Stubblefield. He also is impressed with the tradition and history of the basketball program."
Gates is also counting on Cincinnati landing 2007 four-star center Anthony McClain.
"Yancy likes the incoming prospects like Anthony McClain and the chance they have of landing him," said Dees. "That gives Yancy the chance to play his true position which is power forward."
Gates joins four-star prospect Darnell Wilks as 2008 Cincinnati prospects.
Yancy Gates scouting report:
An imposing physical specimen with athleticism, Gates has the ability to dominate the glass. He also runs well and can move his feet on defense. Offensively, he can score inside the arc, but his skill level and feel for the game do need significant improvement.
