Gary Ervin Switches AAU Teams

BRONX, NEW YORK -- Gary Ervin, a 5-11, 170-pound guard from Paul Roberson High School in Brooklyn, New York, appears to have changed his AAU team.
Long Island Panthers head coach Gary Charles confirmed this past weekend at the Rumble in the Bronx that he does not expect Ervin to be back with his program. Instead, Ervin has hooked on with the Riverside Church program.

Ervin was a big factor in helping the traditional AAU powerhouse to the final of the Rumble in the Bronx at Fordham University this past weekend. Ervin seemed to fit in nicely coming off the bench for Riverside.
Ervin had another obligation two weekends ago and not play at the Lehigh Valley Jam Fest. Ervin said at the Rumble in the Bronx that he is very interested in several schools -- including Villanova. It appears Villanova has worked Ervin hard and is also certainly involved with players like Curtis Sumpter, Jason Fraser, and 2003 target Charlie Villanueva.
When Ervin was playing with the Panthers, he ran the show and helped set up talented forwards as Lenny Cooke, Sumpter, and Fraser with his assists.
Ervin averaged 16 points, nine rebounds, and nine assists last season as a junior at Roberson. He is quick and is excellent in transition. "I am open right now," Ervin said. "I will just listen to the schools that call me next month and decide on a list late in the summer."
