Gary Ervin, a 5-11, 170-pound guard from Paul Roberson High School in Brooklyn, New York, is a sparkplug for the talented Long Island Panthers AAU program under Gary Charles.
Ervin runs the show and helps set up such talented forwards as Lenny Cooke, Curtis Sumpter , and Jason Fraser with his assists. Ervin averaged 16 points, nine rebounds, and nine assists last season as a junior at Roberson. He is quick and is excellent in transition.
"I am hearing from a lot of Big East schools," Ervin said. "But recently I have been hearing from Maryland. They have always been a dream school for me."
Recently, Maryland landed talented guard Chris McCray. But Ervin is still interested in Maryland.
"I am open right now," Ervin said. "I will just listen to the schools that call me next month and decide on a list late in the summer."
