Garrison Liking Two

2005 prospect Robert Garrison ran the point last year for state runner ups Niagara Falls (N.Y.) High School. Now Garrison, 6-foot-1, 180-pounds, is working hard to improve his game and get the attention of college coaches. Right now he has two schools at the top of his list.
"My recruiting is just starting to pick up,” said Garrison. “I’m hearing from Boston U, Buffalo, Stanford, UMass, and Ohio U. Right now my favorites are UMass and Boston U."

Environment and academics were two factors mentioned by Garrison about his favorites in Massachusetts.
"I’ve got to know the coaches well at Boston U and have built a good relationship with them. I also like the area, and they have strong academics.
"I like the basketball tradition at UMass. I think they will turn things around. I also like the campus and the area."
Garrison averaged 14 points and 7 assists per game last season for his 23-3 team. The deft ball handler and strong leader is now focused on getting stronger.
"I’m working hard this year,” he said. “I’m in the weight room a lot trying to get stronger. I’m also working on trying to get my shot off quicker."
"I think my greatest strength is my leadership. I can also handle the ball well and get to the basket."
Niagara Falls coach Dan Bazzani noted the significant improvement of his point guard during the season.
"Robert improved dramatically from the start of the year to the end,” said Coach Bazzani. “He played well for us against Mt. Vernon in the finals. He handled their pressure well. He handles the ball well. Once he gets stronger, I think he can play for a lot of colleges."
