Garrett on fire in 2017

In the class of 2017, few prospects are hotter than point guard Marcus Garrett.

The 6-foot-5 floor general from Dallas (Texas) Skyline is currently an unranked three-star prospect but he's going to enter the rankings with a bullet next week and has the offers one would expect from a high level prospect.

Kansas offered earlier this week after watching him and it joins TCU, Oregon, SMU, Baylor, Texas, Richmond and Kansas State as programs that have put scholarships on the line while North Texas and Gonzaga are also involved.

IN HIS OWN WORDS:

Things have been picking up quickly for Garrett, and he says that it's been a mix of exposure and hard work. He feels he has a lot to offer and is looking forward to exploring his options.

"I've really just been working hard. My uncle told me that it only took the right person to see me and I could blow up.

"I feel the most comfortable at the point guard and I feel that I can get a team into an offensive set. I plan on taking my time because I want to make the best decision for myself."

WHAT'S NEXT?:

Now that Garrett's name has started to float around, college programs are flocking to see him play. He will hit the grassroots circuit with SWAGG House, where he will be coached by his uncle Matthew Watts.

During next week's update to the 2017 Rivals150, look for Garrett to make a debut as a four-star prospect.

RIVALS' REACTION:

Each April, college coaches get two weekends to go out and evaluate prospects in "live" tournaments. During that time there are always a few prospects who see their stock soar and Garrett figures to be one of those guys.

Because SWAGG won't be playing on one of the major shoe company circuits, coaches are going to have to get off the beaten path a little bit to evaluate him and it is looking like their time will be well spent doing so.

If you are Garrett, this could be a good thing. He's getting lots of attention, but he and those close to him will be able to use the month of April to get a true feel for which programs are making him a priority when they see who shows up to watch him.
