Garrett casts his web for A-10

The commitments continue to roll in as Georgia big man Darrius Garrett is taking his game to the Atlantic 10. The 6-foot-8 forward from McEachern High School in Powder Springs made a verbal commitment on Tuesday night.
Sources told Rivals.com that Garrett gave a nod to the Richmond Spiders. According to his high school coach Nick Chaykowsky, the Spiders are landing a promising player in the three-star prospect.

"I think he's got a lot of potential and should be good in their high post. He can face the basket and defend really well," Chaykowsky said. "He's a very active rebounder, too."
Garrett visited Richmond last month and struck a chord with the coaches and players, particularly his state mates Kevin Anderson, a freshman guard, and David Gonzalvez, a junior wing.
"He liked the atmosphere when he went up there and I think he knew a couple of guys there already from AAU," Chaykowsky said. "They are going to challenge him and it's going to be a good place for him to play and it should be good for him on the academic side of things."
Garrett also visited East Carolina and considered Rice in the recruiting process.
Garrett joins Australian forward big man Josh Duinker, a 6-foot-9, 210-pound prospect, in the 2008 recruiting class for the Spiders.
