Freshman JUCO Impresses

He may be just a freshman, but Joseph Ison served notice at the recent Jayhawk Shootout that he will be a force to be reckoned with this winter in the rugged Jayhawk Conference.
A product of Douglass H.S. in Baltimore, Md., the 6-4, 200 pound Ison helped Labette C.C. of Parsons, Kan., split a pair of games at the recent Jayhawk Shootout. In two contests, Ison averaged 23 points and 5.5 rebounds, shooting 20 of 32 from the floor.

Ison is very effective at leaking out and scoring in transition. He also scores consistently on little runners in the lane, and simply has a nose for the loose ball on the offensive end.
On the downside, he will need to improve the consistency of his three point shot as well as the quickness of his release. His handle is adequate in open court situations, but could use some fine tuning for halfcourt sets.
Labette Head Coach Kurt Young told Rivalshoops.com that Mississippi State, Cincinnati, South Florida and St. John's have expressed very early interest in Ison.
Rivalshoops.com will stay on top of Ison's freshman campaign at Labette, and let you know of any further developments regarding his recruitment.
