Frederick Set on Three Visits

Scoring point guard Zam Frederick from Calhoun County High School in St. Matthews, South Carolina plans on taking three official visits during the month of September before deciding on a school in October.
The 6-foot, 215-pound Frederick will officially visit Georgia Tech on the 6th and Stanford on the 18th. Tubby Smith will conduct a home visit during the second week in September, and an official visit to Kentucky will be scheduled at that time.

Frederick, the No. 116 ranked player in the Rivals150, still lists South Carolina, Clemson, Georgia, and Vanderbilt as schools he is considering, but he doubted that he would officially visit any other schools than Georgia Tech, Stanford, and Kentucky.
When asked if his official visit schedule indicates the favorites in his recruitment, he stated, “I do not want to say that I like any school better than another. Anytime I say I like a school, the others get upset.”
He did have these comments about the schools on his list:
On Georgia Tech: “I like Coach Hewitt and Coach Reece. I have had two great unofficial visits there. Also Atlanta is a great city, and Georgia Tech is a very good school. A degree from there means a lot.”
On Stanford: “With Stanford you get the best of both worlds-basketball and academics. Coach Montgomery has been there a long time, and they have a lot of players in the league. He lets the guards play and shoot it coming off screens.”
On Kentucky: “They have a great tradition and they play up and down, full court basketball like I am used to playing. They have a lot of players in the NBA, and Coach Smith is a good coach who knows what he is doing. You can’t beat their atmosphere. Basketball means everything there.”
On South Carolina: “The best thing about South Carolina is it is close to home, and I would have great fan support with everybody near and dear to me able to watch me play. I also would have the opportunity to play right away.”
On Clemson: “I do not know the coaches real well, but I would be able to play immediately. They’re fans get into it and they are in the ACC.”
On Georgia: “It is a good opportunity, since they only have four players on scholarship right now. I could help build up the program and be part of a foundation for Coach Felton, who is a good guy.”
On Vanderbilt: “I have a good relationship with [Assistant] Coach Jackson. It is a good academic school, and I would have the chance to start as a freshman.”
A program with a fast style of play and the opportunity of immediate playing time will have the best chance of landing Frederick. He said, “I can fit into any style of play, but I prefer an up and down, pressing style like I play in high school. I also want to play 25 to 30 minutes my first year and start by my sophomore year.”
