Franklin to Pac-10

After the coaching change at USC, Gary Franklin opened up his recruitment, but now the 6-foot-2, 180-pound scoring point guard has found another school in the Pac-10 to play his college basketball.
Franklin of Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei High School chose California on Friday after visiting the school last weekend.

"He looked really hard at Arizona State, Baylor and Cal," said Franklin's father and travel team coach Gary Franklin, Sr. of California Supreme. "He struggled with the decision. He really considered Baylor, but in the end he looked at the Pac-10 and really wanted to play in that conference. They have put a lot of guards in the NBA. There is a lot of tradition in the Pac-10. Coach Montgomery is a great coach, and academically it is a great situation."
Franklin, the No. 72 ranked prospect in the Rivals150, thrives on making difficult and contested shots from behind the arc.
He joins four-star prospect Richard Solomon and three-star prospects Allen Crabbe and Alex Rossi in what is a solid California 2010 recruiting class.
