The nation's top seniors are busy cutting down their lists and setting their visits. Five-star point guard De'Aaron Fox knocked out the first part when he announced that he has cut his list down to seven programs.
Currently ranked the No. 9 player in the class of 2016, the 6-foot-3 point guard from Katy (Texas) Cyrpress Lakes took to his Twitter account Friday night to announce his seven finalists: Arizona, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisville, LSU, North Carolina and N.C. State.
Noticeably absent from Fox's final group of seven are any schools from the state of Texas. More noticeable is that Texas did not make the list after many considered the Longhorns to be the team to beat for the super athletic and quick point guard during the spring and early summer. However, recent talk had suggested that Texas wasn't nearly as strong as believed and the final list is proof that the spring and summer whispers didn't pan out.
Now, the race is officially on for the super talented Fox. A capable scorer with tremendous size, length and feel for the point guard position, he is just as dangerous on the offensive side of the ball as he is the defensive side where he's arguably the best on the ball defender in the class.
Fox has yet to set visits yet but behind the scenes talk over the past few weeks has been pointing to Kentucky, Kansas and Arizona as perhaps the teams to beat now that Texas is out of it.
