Fox a highly regarded 2016 target

THE RIVALS150: Class of 2014 | 2015 | 2016
The class of 2016 is looking strong at the top when it comes to point guard talent. One of the best is De'Aaron Fox.

A 6-foot-3 floor general from Katy (Texas) Cypress Lakes, Fox is a five-star prospect who currently ranks No. 13 nationally in the class of 2016.
He doesn't yet have leaders, but does feel that there are three programs who have been recruiting him the hardest.
"The hardest is Texas, Baylor and Kansas State," Fox said when asked who had been recruiting him the hardest. "Every single one of their coaches texts and calls on a regular basis. I really feel like they are trying to make me family right there so that's why I think they are recruiting me the hardest at this point."
Of course it is still early for Fox and he has plenty of other big-name programs in the mix. Fox says that Louisville, SMU, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, LSU and Kansas are all very interested.
A lean guard who is a speed burner, Fox has a big-time first step and can get into the lane in a hurry. He sees the floor very well, has big-time defensive potential because of his lateral quickness and is also a high-level scorer. Though he can slide over to the shooting guard position because of his scoring ability, Fox is only being recruited as a point guard.
"Most people are recruiting me as a one," said Fox. "Nobody has come to me talking about trying to play me as a two right now."
That sits just fine with Fox because he feels the point is his best position down the road.
"I talk to a lot of point guards," said Fox. "I know a lot of the pro guys and guys in college so I think playing the one I have a lot of background and know a lot of people and they can teach me the ropes."
Fox is looking forward to getting a little bit of a break and getting back into the gym where he'd like to add some weight. As for his recruiting, there is no rush to make a decision and he'll factor in many things when it is time to decide.
"I wouldn't say I will get it wrapped up early," said Fox. "I wouldn't think about committing until early in my senior year.
"Factors are a coach's history, a lot. Also the school's tradition and the players that are going there and coming back."
