MORE: Bluebloods enter mix for four-star Elias King | Rivals150 for class of 2019

For a player as talented as he is, Jaykwon Walton has managed to stay relatively under the radar in the Southeast from a recruiting standpoint. He’s currently No. 86 in the 2019 Rivals150 for good reason, as he’s a 6-foot-6 wing with athleticism and a nice shooting stroke.

Memphis is the most recent program to jump into the mix for him with a scholarship offer. Georgia, Mississippi State and Xavier are the other schools doing the most work with the four-star prospect who is originally from Columbus, Ga. Middle Tennessee, Texas A&M and UAB are also involved with Walton.

IN HIS OWN WORDS

Memphis: “It’s a nice program. I’ve been there already. They told me they are going to recruit me hard and that I’m a top priority.”

Xavier: “They want to get me up there badly and they said they are going to come check me out soon. I don’t know much about their program yet, but I’ve started watching them a little bit.”

Georgia: “I’ve been there multiple times. It’s a nice program. They have nice coaches, great facilities and they have a nice team.”

Mississippi State: “I watched them play a little bit. They get up and down the court, rebound well and they've got pretty good players now.”

RIVALS' REACTION

Walton’s recruitment feels like one that could pick up in a hurry at any given moment. He already has some really good programs involved with him, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see his list grow quickly over the next eight months. Georgia and Mississippi State are the two programs he has the most familiarity with. He’s visited both schools multiple times, and his high school has had multiple players play at Mississippi State in recent years, including Craig Sword and Roquez Johnson.
