Four-star will look around

THE RIVALS150: 2015 | 2016
Friday, St. John's and Steve Lavin decided to mutually part ways. Within minutes of the announcement, it became apparent that the move would more than likely cost them the commitment of four-star shooting guard Brandon Sampson.

A 6-foot-4 senior at Baton Rouge (La.) Madison Prep who ranks No. 41 in the class of 2015, Sampson will now evaluate his options.
The news was confirmed to Rivals.com by Sampson's coach Jeff Jones. Jones told Rivals.com that Sampson would still continue to consider St. John's, but he would evaluate other options that are available to him.
A high scoring wing with a quick first step and deep shooting range, Sampson committed to St. John's in January but never signed a Letter of Intent. Because of that, he will not need to seek the permission of the Red Storm administration to look around at his options.
Previous to committing to the Johnnies, Sampson took official visits to California, USC and hometown LSU. All three of those programs plus many more will look to be in the mix and Jones told Rivals.com that "everybody has been calling" since the announcement that Lavin is out.
At the time of Sampson's commitment, Andy Enfield's Trojans finished a very close second and they are very likely to be a major factor in Sampson's newly opened recruitment.
