Four-star Walton recaps SEC visits

Jaykwon Walton earned four-star status in Rivals.com's most recent 2019 Rivals150 update, and it’s easy to see why. The 6-foot-6, 180-pound wing possesses very good athleticism and can make plays for both himself and his teammates. His long term potential will certainly excite college coaches and many of them have already been working hard on the 100th ranked prospect in the 2019 class.

Right now, Walton holds offers from Georgia, Mississippi State, TCU and UAB with heavy interest coming in from Xavier, Tulane, Dayton, Florida State, Auburn and Alabama. He visited Georgia on Tuesday and has also been at Mississippi State recently. Alabama, Auburn and UAB have had him on campus in the past as well.

IN HIS OWN WORDS

Walton talked about his most recent visits as well as what he likes about a couple other schools involved in his recruitment.

Georgia: "It was a great visit. We walked around the school some, sat in talked in the office, went into the locker and I saw them work out too. I saw Rayshaun Hammonds and all those guys."

Mississippi State: “It was great. They said they really wanted me because Carver has a tradition of guys going there like Craig Sword.”

Xavier: “They have a great program. I’ve talked a few of their coaches. I like them.”

Alabama: “I love their program. They have some great recruits coming in this year.”

WHAT'S NEXT?

Walton said it is possible he takes more visits throughout June, but doesn’t currently have any scheduled. He’s been playing with the Alabama Fusion this travel season and will finish with them, but he’ll play the first open weekend of July with the Atlanta Xpress at the Under Armour Finals in Atlanta. He doesn’t have a timeline for when a decision will come as he wants to see which schools come in and get serious with him.

RIVALS' REACTION

Walton gave glowing reviews on his trip to Georgia on Tuesday, and he is originally from Columbus, Ga. Mississippi State has done well with Carver players in the past such as Craig Sword and Roquez Johnson, so Ben Howland and his staff will play that angle. Alabama could be the wild card in this one if they eventually decide to offer.
