Four-star Thompson to Oregon State

Oregon State kept it in the family on Monday night when four-star shooting guard Ethan Thompson committed to the Beavers.

A 6-foot-4 senior at Gardena (Calif.) Bishop Montgomery, Thompson's father is an assistant coach for the Beavers while his brother Stephen Thompson is a sophomore guard.

"On my official visit I really noticed that it's a strong community and everybody is supportive of the team," Thompson told Rivals.com. "I met a lot of people who really want to see us succeed.

"People are starting to see that Oregon State is on the come up and that we are a school to look for in the future."

Polished as a perimeter scorer with good size and athleticism, Thompson is comfortable as a catch-and-shoot guy or creating off of the dribble. He's good in transition as well and is a capable playmaker for others with his passing.

"I think that I do a little bit of everything pretty well," Thompson said. "I will do whatever the team needs of me if that is scoring or playing defense or whatever."

Of course, Thompson is also excited by the chance to play with his brother and for his father.

"I think it should help a lot to have them there," said Thompson. "My dad has seen players go through the transition to college and my brother just went through it. They will both be able to guide me and it will be great to be together."
