Four-star Talen Horton-Tucker cuts list to 13

Talen Horton-Tucker made one of the bigger jumps of any prospect in the country in the most recent 2018 Rivals150. The Chicago native is now ranked No. 54 overall in his class and has become one of the more highly sought after perimeter players in the Midwest.

Horton-Tucker’s most recent move in the recruiting process was to trim his list down. He kept 13 schools on the list and they are Dayton, Georgetown, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Iowa State, Kansas, Michigan, Michigan State, Missouri, Ohio State, Saint Louis and Xavier. Right now, he has no visits set up.

IN HIS OWN WORDS

We asked Horton-Tucker about some of the schools still involved in his recruitment.

Illinois: “They are great. They are on the rise. I never had a conversation with John Groce before the new staff came in. Coach (Ron) Coleman was the first coach to offer me at UIC.”

Georgia Tech: “They just talked to me about playing in the ACC and coming right away and making an impact.”

Kansas: “Kansas is Kansas. It’s a legendary program. You always hear about them being a great program. They have had long line of good Chicago guards. I know one of their point guards they have now, Charlie Moore.”

Michigan State: “It’s a great program. They have a legendary coach, a hall of famer. I know some of the guys they have committed already and they have put a lot of players in the NBA.”

Iowa State: “They have been on me since last June. Coach (Steve) Prohm offered me last year and they have been on me hard ever since.”

RIVALS' REACTION

Horton-Tucker is taking his recruitment at his own pace and isn’t letting any pressure from anybody outside his circle to dictate how he’s going to go through process. When you ask him when he’ll take visits, he’ll tell you that he’ll know when he knows. When you ask him when a decision might come or which schools are standing out the most, you’ll get a very similar answer. It’s probably a safe bet that the schools he talked about above will be in play all the way up until he decides along with some we didn’t ask about specifically.
