With two visits down and two more to go, four-star combo guard Devontae Shuler is well into the recruiting process. South Carolina, Oklahoma State and Ole Miss have been to visit his school (Oak Hill Academy) to see him play and he’s taken official visits to South Carolina and Oklahoma State.

IN HIS OWN WORDS

Rivals.com caught up with the 6-foot-3 guard to discuss where everything stands with his recruitment.

On South Carolina: “It was cool to get on campus and see how everything is down there. It’s close to home so there’s obviously a comfort level and I’ve built a good relationship with the coaching staff.”

Oklahoma State: “The visit to OSU was great. Coach (Brad) Underwood was actually at Stephen F. Austin and came to my school and gave me my first offer a long time ago along with Coach (Mike) Boynton, so we’ve obviously had a good relationship from day one. Playing in the Big 12 would be amazing. It’s one of the best conferences and every game is competitive.”

Ole Miss: “I know I could go in and get good playing time right away at Ole Miss. The coaches there are really cool and I know they could get me ready for the league and push me to be a better player.”

Miami: “Miami is building a strong program and I just want to get down there and check it out. My teammate from last year (Rodney Miller) is down there and I just want to see how the team practices and everything.”

WHAT’S NEXT?

Shuler plans to take an official visit to Ole Miss on Oct. 8-9 and Miami on Oct. 15-16 with a decision likely to follow. He wants to focus on this season and says the team is working hard.

“We really want to run this year,” Shuler said. “We have all the pieces to run a fast offense and push the ball in transition.”

The tentative lineup would be four-star point guard Matt Coleman at the one, four-star guard Lindell Wigginton at the two, Shuler at the three, four-star shooting guard Ty-Shon Alexander at the four and five-star power forward Billy Preston at the five.

RIVALS REACTION

Halfway through the visit process, Oklahoma State appears to be the team to beat (just check out his twitter timeline). Don’t count out Ole Miss just yet. It has been picking up its recruitment of Shuler and could sneak back into things if the visit goes well.
