McEachern High School (Ga.) went undefeated last year during the regular season and went deep into the state playoffs last year. A big part of the run by the Indians was due to the play of point guard Sharife Cooper.

The 2020 point guard is one of the best floor generals and passers in the country, regardless of class. Despite his 5-foot-10, 150-pound frame, college coaches haven’t been scared away. Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Mississippi State, NC State and a few others are among the schools recruiting the Georgia native so far.

Auburn, Clemson, Georgia Tech and NC State have had the four-star prospect on campus already.

IN HIS OWN WORDS

Cooper talks about some of the schools recruiting him hardest right now.

Auburn: “I love it. I love the coaching staff and what they are doing. I love everything about Auburn. Coach (Bruce) Pearl was here last night [Tuesday].”

Alabama: “I love Alabama. I feel like they are on the come-up. With Collin Sexton, I know they have one of the top point guards in the country. I haven’t been there yet, but they show a lot of interest.”

Georgia Tech: “I think they offered and they’ve been here a couple times. I went to the game they played Florida State and they beat them.”

NC State: “They show a lot of interest and I’ve been there three times. I really like their campus.”

RIVALS' REACTION

Cooper already checks in at No. 41 overall in the 2020 class and ranks among the best at the point guard position in his class. His stock will continue to stay high over the next couple years and he’ll be among the most highly recruited players in the country, especially if he can add another inch or two along with some muscle. Auburn has certainly made an early impression on him as has the new staff at NC State. Georgia Tech coach Josh Pastner will certainly do his best to keep Cooper home to run the show for his program.
