Anthony Edwards earned four-star status with his play last summer with the Atlanta Xpress 15-under and the way he started his sophomore season at Therrell High School in Atlanta. At the beginning of January, the No. 45 prospect in the 2019 Rivals150 decided to leave Therrell to attend Holy Spirit Prep in Atlanta, and he’s also decided to reclassify back into the Class of 2020.

Regardless of the move, the 6-foot-4, 200-pound shooting guard will be a hot commodity going forward. Georgia Tech, Georgia State, Clemson, Auburn, Florida State, Texas A&M and UCF have already offered him a scholarship. Kansas and Michigan State have also shown varying levels of interest. Auburn, Clemson, Florida State and Georgia Tech have all hosted him on unofficial visits already.

IN HIS OWN WORDS

Georgia Tech: “Me and coach (Josh) Pastner are real cool. He’s a cool person. I think they did really well this year.”

Florida State: “I love Florida State. I love coach (Leonard) Hamilton and coach CY (Charlton Young). I love what they are doing there. The players are real cool.”

Auburn: “I haven’t really seen them play, but I like the people there and the campus. They talk to me about my grades and basketball.”

Texas A&M: “Coach Amir (Abdur-Rahim) has been talking to me for a while. He’s been talking to me about going there for a visit for a game.”

WHAT'S NEXT?

Edwards will once again suit up for the Atlanta Xpress in the upcoming travel season and will be part of one of the more talented teams in the Under Armour 16-under division. After travel season ends, he’ll go back to Holy Spirit Prep to start his sophomore year again. In the meantime, expect him to be active in taking visits to the nearby schools and possibly Texas A&M.

RIVALS' REACTION

We already had Edwards ranked among the best guards in the 2019 class, so going back to the 2020 class should only intensify his recruitment down the road. His size, strength, versatility and ability to score will have college coaches going all out to sign him. Right now, one school holds a big edge and that’s Florida State. His relationship with the coaching staff in Tallahassee is a big reason for the Seminoles' advantage.
