Mark Fox and Georgia needed to make sure they landed an impact player in the 2017 class and they got him Thursday when they landed a commitment from Rayshaun Hammonds.

During a ceremony at Norcross (Ga.) High, the 6-foot-8 forward and four-star prospect announced that he would be staying in his home state for college to play for Fox and the Bulldogs.

"I chose Georgia because it felt like home," said Hammonds during his announcement.

Though he is going to have to add weight to his narrow frame, Hammonds has all of the tools to make an instant impact in Athens.

Most notable, though, is his top shelf athleticism and quickness that make him a matchup as a run-and-jump power forward. Against other bigs, he's able to put the ball on the floor and attack the rim. In the post, his quickness off the floor and with spins helps to compensate for his lack of strength.

Long term, there is hope that Hammonds can eventually play out on the perimeter. He certainly has the athletic ability to do so but he'll need to iron out and get much more consistent with his jump shot before he can play long stretches.

Hammonds looks like a multiple-year starter for the Bulldogs and they came through when they had to in landing him.
