Plans change.
After playing host to Alabama, Illinois and Memphis for in-home visits, "Pookie" cut his list down to those three and his choice is now in.
While out with family, friends and coaches for lunch on Saturday afternoon, the four-star point guard from Orlando (Fla.) Dr. Phillips announced that he would be attending Memphis.
"(Powell) and his parents had a better relationship with the coaches at Memphis," said Diana Neal, Powell's summer coach on the Florida Showtime Ballers. "The style of play was a big factor."
Powell, a 6-footer ranked No. 98 in the class of 2013, has extreme quickness and confidence, and his an outstanding scorer.
He loves to penetrate into the lane and kick to teammates, is a surprisingly strong finisher and has worked hard to develop a jump shot that must be respected from deep.
