As a coach, you never want to turn down a commitment from a player you want. But, if you get a commitment early, it can be tough to hold onto it.

Anton Beard is just the latest example of this.
The 5-foot-10 point junior guard from Little Rock (Ark.) Parkview committed to Missouri last summer. Wednesday night, the four-star prospect announced via Twitter that he was opening up his recruitment.
A scoring point guard who is a dangerous pull-up jump shooter, Beard can navigate the high ball screen and plays well in an uptempo system.
According to his summer coach, Norton Hurd of Team Thad, Beard and his parents just wanted to be sure of his decision and are still interested in and thankful to Missouri for giving the early scholarship.
"Parents want Anton Beard to explore all options before making a final decision," Hurd told Rivals.com via text message. "Missouri coaching staff has been great, special thanks to Tim Fuller."
Currently ranked No. 75 in the 2014 Rivals150 Beard will not lack for options. Among those he will look into are Arkansas, Tennessee, Mississippi State, Kansas, Georgia Tech, LSU and Michigan.
