Four-star PG has options

Four-star point guard Tony Carr ended his junior season on a high note winning a league, city and state titles while being named the player of the year in Philadelphia. That run has continued this spring and he has no shortage of options to further his career in college.
A 6-foot-4 point guard at Philadelphia (Pa.) Roman Catholic, Carr's junior season was the stuff that dreams are made of. After a successful run full of titles and individual accolades he has kept things rolling while playing in Nike's Elite Youth Basketball League with Philly-based Team Final.

Carr has led his team to an 8-4 record in league play 14.5 points, five rebounds and over three assists per game. A hard nosed, but slender, floor general, Carr usually enjoys a height advantage and he tries to make the most of it and feels that he makes his teammates better.
"I think it helps me a lot because I'm a big guard," Carr said. "There aren't that many big guards like me out there on the circuit so I try to use it to the best of my ability.
"I think my biggest strength is my passing and getting my teammates involved. I think I could improve on my defense and also with the consistency of my jump shot."
Currently ranked No. 76 in the Rivals150, Carr has offers from Maryland, Georgetown, Indiana, Virginia Tech, Florida State, Xavier, SMU, Temple, La Salle, Rhode Island and Penn State.
Recently, his high school and summer teammate Nazeer Bostick committed to Penn State. Carr said that the three-star shooting guard's commitment helps the Nittany Lions.
"Of course it's always a wonder to play with your brothers," said Carr. "For him to jump start things and go to Penn State could be a big thing."
Carr has tripped down to Maryland where Mark Turgeon and his staff are trying to sell him on a multiple point guard attack.
"It's a good campus and the coaching staff is pretty cool," said Carr." They tell me that they plan on playing multiple guards at one time. They already have a point guard committed so they have tried to lay that multiple guard blueprint out for me."
Though his name is hot with college coaches, Carr is focused on keeping up his hot streak on the basketball court. He's putting his recruitment on the backburner for now and when he gets back to it after the summer, the opportunity to play early will be a big factor in his decision.
"I'm going to take my time and wait until after this summer to commit," said Carr. "I'm just trying to focus on winning games for Team Final and then after the summer I'll weigh all of my options and cut my list and make my decision.
"I'm looking for somewhere that I can play immediately. I'm not saying start or play
40 minutes, I just want to have an impact on the team. Second is what place benefits me and my family, wherever that is."
