Four-star Okoro emerging in 2019 class

Isaac Okoro is quietly emerging as an elite prospect out of Georgia in the 2019 class. Already a four-star prospect ranked No. 37 overall in the 2019 Rivals rankings, Okoro has a chance to continue to rise if he keeps putting up 35-point showings like he did Monday at the Blue Collar Basketball MLK Day Showcase.

He’s already hauled in offers from Auburn, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Rutgers and Tulane with Georgia, Kansas and Stanford showing interest. Bruce Pearl watched Okoro on Monday with an assistant by his side and Georgia also had an assistant sitting courtside. The only school Okoro has visited so far is Auburn.

IN HIS OWN WORDS

Okoro shared his thoughts on a few of the schools that have already offered him a scholarship.

Auburn: “I like their coaching staff. I like their fans and their arena too. They talk to me about if I go there how they would get me involved in their system.”

Florida State: “Their coach comes to my practice and my games. I’ve seen them play a little bit this year. I watched their game against North Carolina. I like them.”

Georgia Tech: “I haven’t had a chance to visit them yet, so I don’t know too much about them yet. They have been to a few of my workouts.”

WHAT'S NEXT?

It’s still very early in the process for Okoro. Over the next six months to a year, expect Okoro to reel in dozens of offers from top programs all over the country. Look for him to take some visits after the season to see some of the schools on his list. He’ll likely suit up with Team AOT again during the travel season.

RIVALS' REACTION

Auburn has certainly put in a lot of work early here by putting a scholarship offer on the table and getting him on campus. Florida State assistant Charlton Young has a long history of signing really talented players out of the Peach State, so don’t rule him out either. Georgia and Georgia Tech will likely have a say in this one as well before all is said and done.
