Wake Forest landed its third commitment in the 2018 class on Monday in Rivals150 wing Isaiah Mucius. A 6-foot-7 small forward that brings a bevy of upside, versatility and ball skills to his position on the floor, Mucius is another strong pick-up for coach Danny Manning.

“Wake Forest has been recruiting me hard since the start of my recruitment and I am really looking forward to being a Demon Deacon,” Mucius said. “It is a school that I can really show my true talents but also go up against the best guys in America every single night out.”

Following his official visit to Wake Forest this past weekend, Mucius, who had also visited Xavier the week before, felt the time was right to make his decision.

“I just think in terms of the conference, the ACC is the best conference in the country, and their style of play, they rely on versatility,” Mucius said. “Having me, (four-star commit) Jaylen Hoard, at the 3 and 4 position, and having a long lineup, that is a place that I can show my true talents.”

Running on the Nike circuit with the PSA Cardinals group, Mucius’ blend of size and ball skills should enable for a quality playing career at the college level and beyond. During his time at the famed Nike Peach Jam in July, Mucius boasted averages of over 12 points, three rebounds and showed the ability to guard three positions on the floor.

The third commitment in the 2018 class for the Deacons, Mucius will join Hoard and versatile guard Sharone Wright Jr. in Winston-Salem next fall, creating for an early top-three recruiting class within the ACC. Wake Forest will hope to finish its class with a top lead guard recruit this fall, that being either Ayo Dosunmu, Devon Dotson or Mike DeVoe.
