WASHINGTON, D.C. – Casey Morsell is beginning to see his recruitment expand from a regional affair into a national one as he becomes the face of his St. John’s College High basketball program. A 6-foot-3 scoring guard and one of the top perimeter prospects from the Mid-Atlantic corridor, Morsell discussed his recruitment and the programs in touch the most often.

A top of the line scorer and a member of the Rivals150, Morsell talked about which schools are standing out and their respective pitches.

“There have been plenty of schools that have told me that I am their guy,” he said. “Virginia, Virginia Tech, Oklahoma State, Georgetown, Temple, but really, most of the schools that have offered me have said that I could be the guy to come in early and make a difference.”

IN HIS OWN WORDS

Georgetown: “They are just telling me that they are right in my backyard and I could go home and my family could come and see me play every game; I could come in and make a difference.”

Virginia: “I just think they have a great culture and everybody can go out there and play. They are really unselfish, everybody gets touches and all five play as a team. The coaches are great and they find ways to win and compete at a high level.”

Virginia Tech: “They are just telling me that I am their guy since there are a lot of spaces open because of the recent decommitments that they had.”

Temple: “They were one of the first schools to notice me but I am looking at all aspects, really, with who wants me, where I see myself playing and fitting in, and the coaches.”

WHAT’S NEXT?

There is no timetable for a commitment set yet as Morsell is primarily focused on finishing his junior campaign this winter.

He recapped his recent string of visits and one program that will likely host him in the coming weeks.

“I visited Virginia, Virginia Tech, Temple, Georgetown and Penn State recently,” he said. “I am probably going to go to Maryland some time; I have to get a date for that. I am going to check out a few college games and wait for that visit period in June.”

RIVALS’ REACTION

His recruitment is just heating up and while Oklahoma State, Virginia Tech, Virginia, Temple and Georgetown may have invested the most time with him, expect for an onslaught of other name-brand programs to jump into the mix any day now.
