ATLANTA, Ga.Marcus Watson has been a busy man over the last few months, traveling across the nation and getting a close look at various college programs.

Watson discussed the schools most in the mix and also recapped a few of his recent unofficial visits.

“It really picked up over the summer a lot. I was getting offers from everywhere and a lot of coaches have been texting me. It is going to be a difficult decision in the end,” he said. “Missouri is in there, Oregon, NC State, Clemson, they call and text me a lot, Georgia every day, Oklahoma State and a lot of others.”

IN HIS OWN WORDS

Oregon: “It was great out there. I really liked it. I like all the coaches. Coach (Dana) Altman, I really like him and the system that he runs. It was just really nice.

“When I went on my unofficial visit, they showed me how they wanted to play and they said if you get the rebound, you push it up the court and play fast-paced.”

NC State: “I think coach (Kevin) Keatts has something big planned over there. The new recruits they have coming in is because of him but he just tells me that they have big men coming in like Ian Steere and I know it is going to be going to be great; he is going to turn it around.”

Georgia: “They want me bad. They like different parts of my game. They text me every day. I like them a lot. They are just saying they want me to make it big time.”

Missouri: “I played with Blake Harris on the same travel program with CP3. Coach (Cuonzo) Martin is a great guy; he came to my school and for my work out, talking to him, I love him. He is just a great guy. I like the whole coaching staff. Coach Martin is real cool and he keeps it real with me. He tells me everything that I need to work on and doesn’t sugarcoat anything. I know Michael Porter went there for a reason. Coach Martin texts me a lot and has a lot of belief in me. He tells me that I can be a one or two year player and then off to the league.”

Oklahoma State: “Coach (Mike) Boynton, that is my cousin. He tells me that I don’t have to come there because we are family but he wants for me to enjoy the process but after visiting the school, it was a great visit. I loved it. The whole atmosphere, I am a big atmosphere guy, I loved it. I went to a good football game. I loved the whole coaching staff. It is going to be a really tough decision but I really like coach; he is amazing.”

WHAT'S NEXT?

Watson does not have any visits set for the near future.

“I have been to Georgia, Tennessee, NC State, Oregon and Oklahoma State since the summer,” he said. “I won’t make any visits until after my high school season.”

A college commitment is not expected for the foreseeable future.

RIVALS' REACTION

A tough, competitive, physical and talented wing that can play a variety of positions and on either end of the floor, there is always a place for Watson on a high-major playing floor.

Missouri, NC State, Georgia, Oklahoma State and Oregon have laid the proper groundwork with Watson and are among the programs to keep tabs on in his recruitment. However, look for his recruitment to continue to escalate as he inches closer to his senior summer in a few months.
